I have arrived! And it's more amazing than I expected. Still a little home sick since I had to leave one of my cats behind, but got one here with me, the one that is attached to me and gets sick when I am away.
Now I sit in a very popular cafe, Pergamino, on a super popular street, Calle 37. Everywhere you turn, there are

green plants (no major flowers) and clothing stores and food! One thing about foreigners, especially Americans, we are where there is food. Many English speaking people here, young, in their 20s and 30s. And they seem to have a great network. Overhearing their conversations, they travel for life! Coworking and do everything by internet. Must be nice. Guess I am second thinking my career in veterinary medicine - well, technically, that's why I am here. Been unhappy doing the routine, so-called 'glamorous' job of being a vet. It's overrated. SO what else is out there. 30 years ago, did people ever think this is what the world would turn out to be? People just leaving their 'knowns' behind, moving into an apt somewhere far away and just struggling to learn a new Language once you dropped?
Well, to me, that's something exciting. And brave.
I started traveling alone back in 2014 maybe. Everyone says 'oh I want to go' and up til the booking, they are all in. Then comes the, "I want a resort", "I want to explore", "I want to get up at 5am", and the "I want to just meet guys". We are all different and one thing I learned, if you wait on everyone else, you won't get far in life.
There's nothing to life without risk. If you even have the idea of something, don't be afraid. Look at the potential MAJOR issues and find an exit beforehand. Such as (and I have done it): what if you leave your wallet at TSA? Are they racist? Is there a civil strife going on? Will there be protests? Will my Maps app work?
I've been to 27 countries now. Cuba 3 times. Colombia, this is my 4th. So I move. Now more than ever. America is beautiful. ANd it has a lot going for itself. But it's cheaper and you grow more, learn about other cultures and more so, about yourself, when you travel overseas.
Hope you take the journey with me these next 30 days. I've only been away a maximum of 14 days before, and that was WITH a friend and a group. This will be interesting....
Me and my cat.... 30 days in Medellin!
