Island Tour: Aegina & Agistri

Ah! What a nice break from the city for an island tour around Greece!
Let's talk about it!
First, there is about a 45 min bus ride to the location - full of people but very comfortable otherwise. Before I got on, I ran over to the bakery to grab something to eat which, here in Athens, all bakeries open around 730/8am and are on every corner. The locals pretty much do grab and go for early mornings.
It took about 2-3 hours to get to the first island: Agistri.
Note to the wise: do NOT sit in the sun on the boat or you will be surely searching for it later. I still gained 3 shades sitting under the shade.
AGISTRI: boring!
Unless you try to rush a horseback ride or jetski in, you only have time to sit and eat. There are no historical monuments worth checking out and it is not a walking-type town. They are essentially just trying to bring money to an island who clearly has no resources otherwise.
BUT the cats are sterilized and released here so the population is under control!
*Side note: When I was in Rome, I met an older woman teach who was traveling with her husband - very well-off to-do folks, you know. Well, as we are talking, a toddler in front of us started yelling and then all of a sudden I hear the woman scream out "Can someone shut that child up!" . I died out laughing. Being how I am not a fan of toddler, especially at restaurants, this still just was not what I was expecting from this lady. Made my whole week.
Parents, please - you chose to have kids, not the population around you. Why must we all suffer with their bad behavior?
Brunch at Alter Ego (Agistri)
Carbonara crepe 3/5 (way too much cheese)
Cold Chocolate 1/6
Back on the boat.
We stopped somewhere in the middle of the water for those who wanted to jump in and then they served a small lunch - I already ate and I do not do open water so I stayed boring otherwise. I heard the food was super flavorful and lots of Mediterranean choices so I'm kinda bummed now.
AEGINA: again, worthless
It's a seaside beach with restaurants. The boutiques are mainly for older women and men but they do have nice cotton material. All I pretty much saw was 'one size fits all'.
I walked around until it was quiet street life, then back to the boat after some gelato.
Two hours back and most everyone was knocked out! I sat inside alone most of the time - calm and relaxed although two girls came to talk to me - their dad works for the US Embassy so they get to enjoy the luxurious life that goes along with it (albeit likely never really spending time with their dad).
The Clumsies Speakeasy & Restaurant
Absolutely fantastic.
They have a varying cocktail menu in a booklet as well as a larger menu of drinks including homemade wines, beers and famous cocktails (ones they create and receive a lot of fanfare for). What I loved and tried was the Taster mix where you get a selection of 4 of their cocktails. Oddly enough, I loved the vodka one. Also, I got The Bao Buns which were also delicious and took a good amount of time to prepare. While I was there, I met Walter from Atlanta who used to live nearby in Arlington, VA.
The Clumsies
Taster Mix-24 euros 5/5
Bao Buns- 13 euros 5/5
Once I was done enjoying, I took a taxi back to the hotel to pack while the city of Athenians were getting ready to socialize: they are serious night folk.
