Up early and ready for Colombia.
I'm just now finding out about the changes with bringing cats to Colombia. Besides the IHC from the States, you also need paperwork from ICA in Colombia. ICA wants" Rabies AND dewormer AND distemper AND prevention now. They added 2 items that are really unnecessary. Even worse, they want a batch# which we don't store for distemper in most medical records. So, I made up one.... Paid online thru SISPAT this time so hopefully that expedites things. Also, how they say I must bring the cat TO THE AIRPORT within 5 days of departure. That's just too much. Since I leave at 6am on a Tuesday, will see if I can just get a hotel near airport the day before so I'm not trapped like last time.
Now I'm on the plane-this is where things get interesting. People start moving their seats. The rules for the cats are that they are not to come out of the carrier and although I paid for an aisle seat, they moved me to a window. Apparently, you are required by Copa Airlines to have a window seat. The other lady in the aisle moved so "I can be more comfortable", but it was for her own benefit. When a passenger can't stop staring at the carrier, they have a problem with its presence. Guess it could be worse. Like the time a woman got hysterical claiming she was highly allergic to cats. Funny enough, Serenity was under the seat for 15 mins already and Ms. lady didn't even know she was there until I politely warned her before take off. Oh well, don't need cat-bashers sitting next to me anyways.
One thing to note: Copa Airlines
This airline is subpar. And unfortunately, this is the best way for my cat and I to travel. There are no TVs, the internet does not work-never has on any of the 6 flights I've made with them, but at least I get fed something. Bonus-it's only a 3 -4 hour flight so I'll get off sooner rather than later no without a backache from these seats.
